The Hemlock
The University of Idaho’s undergraduate journal of philosophy, The Hemlock, accepts papers annually. Submissions from all areas of philosophical inquiry and from all institutions are welcome.

Philosophy, History, and Politics Undergraduate Conference
Thompson Rivers University hosts an undergraduate conference in January annually. This is a great opportunity for undergraduate students to share and develop their work in a positive, welcoming environment. Registration closes first week of December annually. To be awarded to second year students proceeding to third year studies who have achieved high academic standing, who are majoring in English, History, Philosophy, or Religion and have no less than a B+ average in the major area(s) of study. Other things being equal, preference will be given to History majors who have specialized in European History.

Harold Vidal Memorial Scholarships in the Humanities

To be awarded on departmental recommendation to students entering their fourth year who have achieved high academic standing (at least 3.0 g.p.a.) in their majors. One of the scholarships will be reserved for students entering the fourth year in English. One of the scholarships will be reserved for a student entering the fourth year in Languages. The remaining scholarship will be given to a student entering the fourth year in either History, Native Studies, Philosophy or Religion. In the event that there are no eligible students in English or Languages, the scholarships reserved for these areas will be given to eligible students in other designated areas. These scholarships may not be shared.

Karl Popper Scholarship in Philosophy

Established in honour of the late Karl Poppers's problem-solving and critical approach to philosophy, this scholarship is awarded upon the recommendation of the Philosophy Department to an outstanding third or fourth year Philosophy student who has taken 70;258 Predicate Logic, or its equivalent. Additionally, preference will be given to the student who has taken (i) one of 70:253 Plato and the Presocratics, 70:268 The British Empiricists, 70:269 The Continental Rationalists, and (ii) one of 70:261 Theory of Knowledge, 70:265 Introduction to Political Philosophy, and 70:369 Philosophy of Science; or their equivalents.
